Operations


The Company’s Head-office and primary processing plants is located in Dammam and another plant  based in Jazan.  SFC also operates processing and distribution depots in Riyadh and Jeddah.  All operations  are linked together with a modern communication system ensuring up to the minute information throughout the organization. The Company has strategically located Cold Stores at Dammam, Jazan, Jeddah and Riyadh having a total storage capacity of  4,000 tons.

FISHING OPERATIONS:  

The Company began fishing operations in 1981, with only one leased boat. Today it operates fourteen (14) modern trawlers as well as a fleet of 35 traditional boats. the fleet operates in Saudi and International Waters, to supply the local market of all kinds of seafood products. The vessels are equipped with on-board processing and freezing equipment to ensure to the highest quality standards.

 

 

PRODUCTION & MANUFACTURING

 

The Company has four processing plants strategically located in Dammam, Jazan, Jeddah and Riyadh. These plants the capacity to process more than 100 tons of fish and shrimp daily. All plants are modern, well equipped and have additional lines for freezing, processing and packing fish products to ensure that freshness and quality is maintained.

 

 

POLYSTYRENE BOX PRODUCTION

 

The Company produces its own polystyrene boxes. These boxes are used to maintain the freshness and quality of Saudi Fisheries Products. This plant has the capacity to produce 400,000 boxes annually.

 

 

 

 

 

 

FRESH MEAL PLANT

 

The company recognizes that the waste produced as a result of Fish and Shrimp processing is a valuable source of protein and this is converted into Fish meal. This process not only ensures protection of the environment but also maximizes return to the company.

 

 

 

 

 

 

AQUACULTURE

 

In recognition of the growing pressure on natural fish and shrimp stocks the Company made the decision to invest in Aquaculture to compliment the catch from the sea. This type of investment is now one of the most important secure continuity of supply for the future.

 

 

 

READ SEA SHRIMP FARM

 

The first shrimp farm the company developed is located on the Southern Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia (Huraidha-Assir) approximately 140 kilometer west of Abha, and 160 kilometer north of Jazan. It has an annual production capacity of 1500 tons.

 

 

GROW OUT PONDS

 

The farm occupies a total of 10 square kilometers with 108 grow-out ponds. Rearing ponds are circular and cover 1 hectare (10,000 square meter). Each pond that a depth of 2 meters. The seawater is initially pumped into the farm through a canal, more than 3 kilometers and then fed by gravity into the grow-out ponds.

 

 

HATCHERIES

 

The project has two hatcheries that supply the farm with all shrimp larvae required for operations. The exceeds total larvae production is 100 million annually.

 

 

 

 

 

Settlement ponds

 

In order to safeguard the environment, the company has set a wide large area of the farm for wastewater treatment prior to its return to the sea. This will ensure continuity of production for many years to come.
